Secret Track

I had the most wonderful day on Saturday !

I headed to a city an hour away to go to a photoshop course for work, only to arrive and get told it was the wrong day ! [Totally their - well, not fault because i'm not blaming them, but it was due to the information they gave us that we came a day early].

Anyway !

So after that was cancelled I called up a friend who lives there and has recently invested in a Canon something something [hey I know Nikon alright] and we jumped in the car and - got coffee !

Hang on as exciting and wonderful as coffee is that wasn't the best bit. After coffee we - Went on an Adventure !!!

Here are some sneaky teaser shots while I go through and edit the rest, hopefully in time for tomorrw :)

Pimp my camera

I decided to paint Courtney's camera.

I started by 'sanding' the body back with acetone, and then i did a quick sketch in pencil before going over in permanent marker.

Next I started painting. I used nail polish - even though the brushes are small, it was really quite difficult.

I need to buy paint pens.

I tried shading in the rose petals but it just didn't mix well, so I had to layer a few times which caused the paint to crack. It did show the shadow underneath though so it wasn't all bad.

Then I thought i'd best put something on the back of the camera -

Before putting on the top clear coat - which was a disaster !!! It melted the permanent marker !!! So I had to redo some spots and add a few more here and there. All up I spent a few hours attempting to get this right lol.

Here's some fun shots of the process -

All in all it looks good now and Courtney's pleased with it [or so she very kindly says lol]

I'm going to invest in some paint pens and try again soon with a new camera and a new design.

Re Hello Bello - the film version

I found a half used roll of film in a camera I got given the other day and was super excited to see what was on it. I saved the first 10 shots but then decided to use the rest myself. Sadly, there was nothing on the first frames, so lucky I used the last or i'd be bummed about wasting a free roll of film !

The sharpness and true to life colours really amazed me with these shots. I'm so used to using spoilt film or working with the intent to change and warp colours and sharpness that I was shocked and happily surprised :)

These are saved as super low res though so you may miss out on the eye peircing sharpness - sorry ! I'll be adding some of these to my etsy store tonight too, so make sure you head over there to check them out.

Lol - My photo of Courtney, her photo of me :)

Best cafe ! And we got the little window seat inside due to coldness !

View from Lavender Bridge - the water was the craziest shade of teal.

Tea for t- one

I usually make myself fresh tea out of my garden, and it is always delicious. My friend Courtney loves tea, so I thought i'd design her a special Home Cottage blend [my house] and send it to her at Uni.

First I gathered all the things that I thought she'd like in a tea.

  • Apple Blossoms
  • Mint
  • Pineapple Sage
  • Rose Petals
  • Fennel
  • Lemon Balm
  • Pineapple Sage Flowers
  • Dehydrated Orange [from our orange tree, we do it every year]

Then I tried each ingredient on its own in a little shot glass full of water. I wanted to make sure the ingredients worked together and didn't overpower one another, or taste icky together.

When I decided on which ingredients to use, I brewed up a cup for myself and let it steep while I cleaned up. The result was perfect - very delicate, but also sweet.

The finished product !

Now to package it up and send it away :)

Hello Bello

A lot's been happening with work and such, so this blog has fairly taken a beating of silence.

Here's some D7000 shots of my last weekend.

It was lovely and crisp weather, some trees still had leaves and the river was an amazing shade of teal. I picked up a fab Nikon lens, a cat brooch and wood cut rose earrings - that I managed to lose half of by the end of the day.

Here's some mobile phone shots -

I love Black Bear Cafe, it's super scrumptious. Check out Courtney's camera that I painted. It's pretty rad.

I'll post some more film shots soon, and i've gained a squillion cameras so I should post some of them too.
