Jedi camera warrior.

Man there is some awesome light graffiti out there. I must do more of it on film. Had a good play with a friend the other day on a Nikon D300 I got to take home to fondle for a few weeks :) Thank you, new photography job :)

Here's some inspiration.

Rain, rain, stay until I miss a day of work, then go away.

Storm a brewing.

Storm, dark, miserable, wet weather? My perfect time to hit the beach!

 Tyre tracks and sea shells.

Wind and breaze.

Choppy surf.

Along the path home.

I wonder what else this wild weather will bring?

Tumblerweed.

Yep. I got talked in to a Tumblr account.

Talk about hooked.

'Bed Time' now means 'lay on the bed for minimum an hour and pour mindlessly over Tumblr and WeHeartIt. Yay.

Actualy, it is fun. The issue is that I like it *too much*.

Here are some highlights so far:

Multiple exposure means multiple fun.

Here's some of my favourite multi exposures of mine. This roll went through 3 different cameras, at three different places, at three different times.

The first was through my Diana - even though it's a 35mm and the Diana is of course a 120 camera, I rigged up a film spool using half a paddle pop stick and some handy black electrical tape. Only issue was, after all my planning and measuring and calculations on how far to wind each time, I was a total idiot and managed to put the film in back to front. So there was (what I thought) the first go done.

The second time I decided to use the film, I put it into my Canon Autoboy II and took it to go see Tegan and Sara in Brisbane for the weekend. I managed to catch some hanging out shots, some gig shots, and stumbled upon a fireworks display, so snapped away at that too. When the fireworks were over and I'd reached the end of the film, I rewound it back, only to open the back and find the film in exactly the same position to where I put it in.

I was mad.

Like, insanely mad. Like, I didn't talk for 2.5 of the 4 hours drive home, and that was two days later.

Third time lucky, I hoped. This time I straightened out the film, made sure everything was right, and carefully loaded it into my Asahi Pentax ME, my (at the time) newly aquired slr. I used up the film, not really paying much attention to what I was doing. There was some photos of friends around town, some photos of home and family, and half a roll of photos from a Dreamworld trip a few weekends later.

This time it HAD to have worked.

I put them in to get developed, and this is what I found:

How fricking awesome !!

You can guess how happy and amazed I was. You can see the concert, you can see fireworks, you can see tigers jumping and you can see the final photos with the slr. And in all the out of date cross processed beauty :)

That sweet smell of grindstone...

Back home and back into it. Flying home took up a whole day, what with getting to and from the airport, as well as a stopover in Sydney - but that's cool, I bought a juice and some nori rolls :) Mmm.

Took this 120 roll to be developed while I was in the big M, but it was going to cost $30+ - i'll be right thanks. So I waited till I got back to save myself about $13. After a stuff up at the printers and a stupid guy scanning in my negatives as positives, here's my shots. The colours should be / are more extreme due to the cross processing, but because I didn't get them inverted at the printers  I had to settle for a straight invert at home, which means less colour mathematics. They look cool anyway of course !

Thankyou stupid man, for giving me $12 worth of bigger negatives *facepalm*

Day nine.

Just saw Claude Monet's signature :D !

Here's the last of Melbourne. Talk to you again when i'm a bit further north :)

These two were sitting in this old decrepit doorway, just behind the alley that i posted a few posts or so ago. Masses of people walking by, and they are just sitting in there drinking and making out. I had to take a photo (I asked - i'm not that creepy or awkward lmao).

Day eight.

One more full day to go. Museum day today. There was a great looking Titanic exhibition, but i'm saving the $30 ticket for the European Masters at the Melbourne Gallery. Woo ! General Museum ticket was good though. Learnt about Melbourne and it's history. Found myself not knowing what to think and trying not to be freaked out in a room full of stuffed animals (as in the once real, now dead kind). Saw a Thylacine though (Tasmanian Tiger - google it people) so that was pretty special. And sad.

Photos.

When I'd finished lookin around and headed back outside, I found all these guys with video cameras and skateboards taking advantage of the large space of clear concrete and were trying to clear this massive gap between these weird step things and the main path. When I walked through they just sat there doing nothing, until I said something along the lines of 'what, don't you kids do tricks around here?' (and yes - I call everyone under the age of like 22 a kid - even though I am too lol).

Got a few shots, including 2 with my Diana and my new Instant Back. After about 3 or 4 goes one guy managed to clear it and not faceplant when he landed, so I started walking to the nearest tram stop. When I was out of the complex and down about a block, I heard skateboard wheels coming up behind me. One of the guys had $2 in coins and asked if he could buy the polaroid off me haha. I told him i'd taken two in case this happened and gave it to him (i didn't accept the $2 lol).

Much later that afternoon I got off the elevator to my hotel room, pushing through a bunch of people trying to get on. All I can hear as I walk down the hallway is "Hey, it's the Polaroid chick! Where? Yeah, it is!"

Haha :)

Day seven.

Zoo time. Caught the tram to quite near the zoo, just walked a couple of blocks in the right direction whilst waiting for the tram to catch up with me. I really should have strapped one of those pedometer things on me, I would have clocked up so much over this trip. Doesn't help that I constantly forget the exact location of cool places i've found, so end up circling and walking about 6 blocks when it's only 2 away. Anyway, back to the zoo.

The lions were great. They had a big roaring contest with each other while I was there. So loud ! Super cool Peter Pan statue too.

Grizzly Bears ! Love love LOVE.

Cutest Tree Kangaroos. Mother with her kid. They were snugglin' :) And some more graffiti of course.

Day six.

Found some cool shops hidden in alleys, found some cool food places that are cheap and uber yummy. More importantly, found a 24/7 pie store :Omg that has super tasty (and popular - get there when they make a fresh batch) of vege pies. Plus, you can get mashed potato and mushy peas on top ! YUM.

While I eat my umpteenth pie for the day, here's some more pics.

Note the photo of the shots - anybody else amazed? You can get 24 shots for $30 at the Queen Victoria Markets. Insane.

Win for the Rolf Harris graffiti. Double win for the start-of-the-roll photo.

Check out this AMAZING guy drawing with chalk. Some people have serious amounts of overlooked talent. He was just doing it for loose change. I took these two shots then threw some gold ones into his tray. Freakin awesome.

Also a shot of a groovy alley i've mentioned. The walls are lined with cafes that just pull their little roller door down at closing in the night - you can kind of see one in the photo.

Day five.

Fisheye time.

Oooh yeah.

Does anyone else reckognise the character in the graffiti to the top right? Was like 'wooah awesome' when I realised who it was.

In my concentration to stop in the middle of the road, take a photo, and not look like a tool, i may have forgotten to smile hahaha :)

Day three + four.

New Instant back for my Diana F+ - instant satisfaction. So happy with it it's crazy. I'll update this post at the end so it's all of the instant photos from the trip. Love.

Okay, so in this scan you've got some graffiti, some giant babushka dolls, some tigers, a snake, a grizzly bear, Neil (from Brighton) looking like Captain Jack emerging from the beach, a weird neon sign and some light play mid drinking-in-the-hotel-room with a mate.

Dinosaur, skateboard, old building, meerkats, light play, friend hotel-room drinking, flinders street station + bikes, posters, taxidermied animals.

Out at a club, drinking in an alley, tree kangaroos, lizard, light play, community garden, street, Lord of the Fires [zomg !!!], wild cat.

Lions, camera museum, giraffes, light play, peter oan statue, street artists, hotel room, club.
