giffffffted.

So there are some fantastic photos out there, especially on Tumblr, that have been turned in to gifs. Next time a have a spare $10 i'm going to make a faux 3D set up that will allow me to easily make my pictures gifs, but for now i thought i'd give it a go with the images from my 4 shot camera.

It's basically doing the same job, accept twice, because it has 4 lenses.

So anyway, here's some shotty attempts :)

You can see how fast the water was moving :)

Crowds.

Now, it would be perfect if you could use all four images, since they are in order and if there's a main subject in the photo [like the guy walking bellow] you can watch them walk across the screen, but there's just too much difference in angles. Because the 4 lenses are in a 2x2 square, you really get 2x different perspectives. Have a look at these too to see what i mean -

Look the same to you? Ah, but look at the back of the caravan / truck. See in the first one you can't see the end of it? But in the second you can even the see next trailer behind it. Different perspectives.

When I do the dodgy 3D camera rig, i'll post a how to, i think you'll like it :)

Four time over.

Finished the roll of Lomo 400 film in my four shooter camera. I'm really starting to like it more and more. Especially the light leaks.

Never never land :)

More never never.

Weekend Escapedes

Once again I have deserted my post ! Blog post that is. I packed a tent and a friend and hit up Byron Bay for the weekend to see a favourite cover band of mine, Fat Albert. They are awesome. Finished a couple of rolls of film, but until they are developed here's the trip in Instax :)

Setting up camp.

 Awesome attacked sign.

 Beach.

Me drawn to graffiti. And rocking a hat.

I had a great time. And scored us both a free hat ! Well, we had to by an $8 margarita each, but it was worth it :) And it was tasty anyway haha.

BUT - while i'm on it, here's a few more Instax shots that were closest to the top of the pile.

My mate Pidgeon and I loitering before seeing a movie.

A friendly cat - i wish the flash wasn't so strong, it had the bluest eyes i've ever seen ! And some awesome fungi on our white mulberry tree :)

The written word is repressed

I'm over television. Not in an Amish kind of way, just in a 'this is a waste of my time and an insult to my intellect' kind of way.

Here's a BRILLIANT book that EVERYBODY should read.

Well, actually, he's released a second book now, so here's TWO etc etc see above :)

Craig Schuftan is a genious, as is his writting style and just absolutely EVERYTHING about this book. As you can tell, i'm pretty fond of it. It's this jam packed, comical, witty, anthology of knowledge that is spewing out on to you !!
Hey ! Nietzche ! Leave Them Kids Alone ! is Schuftan's second publification, and instead of delving back through multiple aspects of culture and history, he shifts his focus onto the old and new Romantics, like Lord Byron and the likes. Another very interesting read.

The Culture Club actualy started out as a podcast, and if you can find them on itunes they are a great way to get 2.5 minute snippets of hard knowledge into your brain through your ears. His new segment is called Acceptable In The 80s -

And you can find the podcasts HERE.

So if you're looking for something to sink your teeth into, or even a book to read a chapter at a time, i must insist you give these ones a go :)

Have you read anything good lately?

On the stereo

So with the Hottest 100 and me being a total audiophile i thought i'd start to share with you a little of what's playing on my old stereo every week or so :) And back to the Aussie thing, i thought i'd start with 3 sets of female vocals.

1. The Jezabels

The first time I saw out about these guys was when I saw them live before a Bluejuice concert. How they happened to be the opening for a bluejuice gig I have no idea. But i'm happy they did. And i'm happy that i was there. They are amazing. And are from 2 hours up the road :)

This song is called Mace Spray, and as of yesterday made it to number 16 in the Hottest 100, I am so very happy for them :)

2. Dash and Will

I can't exactly recall how I found these two, i think it was perusing JB Hifi online and their new vinyl section. I looked them up and thought they were alright, but forgot all about it. A few weeks down the track I went back to pre order a cd and found them again, which was a great coincidence.

This song isn't their most upbeat, but I just love it. Just the first line hooks me and takes me away.

3. Megan Washington

Pictures taken by meee. See a few more heeeeere.

That last shot is of me in the masks she had from her Lions EP. Amazing. I love the shot of her smiling, and I have a few more of her in between songs swigging from a huge bottle and swearing at the roadie who put tape on her piano. It was great.

I've loved Megan from the beginning. And not in a 'I liked her before she was big way' , but in a 'I'm happy i was there for the journey' kind of way. Her rendition of Radiohead's Creep on Spicks and Specks was the tip of the iceberg. Amazing. I'll add the link to it below. The thing I Love most about Washington's music is that it has such depth in the lyrics, yet they are put to an almost ironic pop beat. Okay, so that's reading waaaay too much into it hahah but seriously, how much more innuendo can one person put in their songs. But for now, here's Rich Kids.

Happy Hottest 100 Day

That's right, Jan 26th is Triple J's Hottest 100 Countdown [ possibly also Australia Day lol, i kid it totally is. ]

It's up to Number 2 right now and i'm itching to see who got the top spot. If you're from Aus, or even if you're not, you should go have a look at the 2010 Hottest 100 list for Triple J, the [arguably] best radio station in Aus [and non commercial !]

Phone camera bomb

My mate Pidgeon and I just went and saw a late movie, so stuffed around a bit first :)

Tattoo is coming along nicely, sore, but in an 'i'm healing so give me some respect' kind of way. I can appreciate that.

Remember y'all - Triple J Hottest 100 starts at 12pm ... Daylight Savings time. Check out what time it starts in your area, i know that in WA it's like 9am or something.

Who are you voting for?

Internally of course as if you havent' voted already you've kind of missed your chance. I'm hoping The Jezebels get somewhere highish on the list, but there's too many awesome bands and stuff out there, i just can't wait to listen to it all :)

Am hoping to throw a cassette tape in and record it all, ohh yeah !

Pasta for dinner

So the other night we had pasta for dinner. I decided to be the adult and pretty much put it all over my face. Molly [half sister] seemed to like that. Here's some hipstamatic shots :)

Yep, that last shot is my tasting wine with a pasta moustache. I felt it was appropriate.

Have you had some fun with food? Mash potato is always good to sculpt with :)

So much sand

Man ! Feels like aaages since i've posted !

I've been having lots of fun with some old friends on the beach. I'm not a beach person at all, unless it's thunder storming or it's night time. So, for a friends birthday, a grabbed a few good chums and hit up the beach for some glowstick, mojito, salt and vinegar chips, fire and triple j playing fun. And that's exactly what we had :)

Yes, we had lightsabers.
