On the stereo
So with the Hottest 100 and me being a total audiophile i thought i'd start to share with you a little of what's playing on my old stereo every week or so :) And back to the Aussie thing, i thought i'd start with 3 sets of female vocals.
1. The Jezabels
The first time I saw out about these guys was when I saw them live before a Bluejuice concert. How they happened to be the opening for a bluejuice gig I have no idea. But i'm happy they did. And i'm happy that i was there. They are amazing. And are from 2 hours up the road :)
This song is called Mace Spray, and as of yesterday made it to number 16 in the Hottest 100, I am so very happy for them :)

2. Dash and Will
I can't exactly recall how I found these two, i think it was perusing JB Hifi online and their new vinyl section. I looked them up and thought they were alright, but forgot all about it. A few weeks down the track I went back to pre order a cd and found them again, which was a great coincidence.
This song isn't their most upbeat, but I just love it. Just the first line hooks me and takes me away.

3. Megan Washington
Pictures taken by meee. See a few more heeeeere.
That last shot is of me in the masks she had from her Lions EP. Amazing. I love the shot of her smiling, and I have a few more of her in between songs swigging from a huge bottle and swearing at the roadie who put tape on her piano. It was great.
I've loved Megan from the beginning. And not in a 'I liked her before she was big way' , but in a 'I'm happy i was there for the journey' kind of way. Her rendition of Radiohead's Creep on Spicks and Specks was the tip of the iceberg. Amazing. I'll add the link to it below. The thing I Love most about Washington's music is that it has such depth in the lyrics, yet they are put to an almost ironic pop beat. Okay, so that's reading waaaay too much into it hahah but seriously, how much more innuendo can one person put in their songs. But for now, here's Rich Kids.

I've never actually seen the Rich Kids clip before now. We should learn those dance moves and take them out on the town. Also, I am suggesting we make similar jumpsuits because THEY ARE AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd never heard of Dash and Will before but I quite like them. Will be doing some youtubing.
