Yep, it's another blog where I have to start off with the 'I'm stupid and haven't posted in forever'.

But enough of that, let's get down to it...!

I ordered a new lens! Fiiiiinaly. What that means is that I can finally start taking decent digital shots from my Nikon D2x and post them on here. Yaaaaay. It should arrive by the end of this week.

I designed a new logo / branding scheme! What do you think?

I got accepted in to restricted access courses at uni!!! Long story short, I've come to uni to do a B Photography, but due to a small class size and therefor a higher ranking / score needed to get in [that of studying law or similar], I am stepping-stoning my way up to it through another B. But, I don't want this year of uni and classes to go to waste when I change degrees. I also don't want to be stuck *not* doing Photography!!! So I've applied to be allowed in to the QCA campus and the classes I *would* be doing if I was in B Photography, and they've said yes!!! I'm pretty relieved and excited.

I've ordered postcards! They should arrive in the post today! Then I'll get on to sending them to all the awesome people who entered the giveaway over at Delicious Ramble. That also means i'll be listing them in my Etsy store super soon :)

I'm sure a lot more has happened since I last posted, but when I get my new lens I'll be able to post about it all properly :)

GTM Maitland 2012

Groovin The Moo Maitland 2012 !

Fun fun fun! We did so many things and saw so many bands, it was great :) We ate delicious icypoles [I had carrot and ginger, yum!], painted our faces with neon crayons, wore Cap Sacs, listened to music and pretty much people watched all day. So many hipsters...

It started out as a pretty hot day, but as the night went on it got to about 7c - aka very, very cold. I like it cold though so that's ok, except we didn't pack enough jumpers so it wasn't a super comfortable coldness lol. Unfortunately for most others they hadn't packed a jumper at all and there were girls in minimal clothing everywhere freezing their fake tans off. On that topic, since when did shorts that are so short your actual butt cheeks hang out become fashionable, let alone acceptable to wear in public?!

Ok enough vivid mental images and on to some physical ones.

Courtney wore a sick original 80s jacket, it matched the cap sac brilliantly.

Okay, so I want to do a more detailed post about this later, but here's a quick rundown.

For gigs and festivals it's getting harder and harder to bring in cameras that remotely look like they are professional. I can take in a 3493493 megapixel point and shoot, but if I try to take in a film slr equipped with a lens that is going to capture nothing but some coloured lights for double exposing or the like, it's a no go. This is really, really frustrating and annoying.

So, my phone ends up being my go to camera for gigs. This is ok, but the photos are not. They're cool to look at to try and remember the night but anything more than that they're pretty much useless. Blown out or too dark, high contrast or patchy colours, out of focus or motion blurr. Yep.

I HAVE A SOLUTION.

Well, not a solution, but a rad way to help bump up the quality of your phone images.

EXAMPLE.

These are of Kimbra at GTM, taken with my phone camera with a little bit of zoom. Probably a third of the way zoomed in. See the massive blow out on her? You can't tell who she is at all. The lights are fuzzy. The stage is too black. Urh.

THESE are with my new nifty shots that I am super stoked with, thanks to my new found cheat!!

How much more detail and clarity are there in these compared to the first one? Unfortunately, my phone battery died after I took these few shots. Lol. I'm stoked with the first one, it's definitely made me realise the untapped potential my phone has.

Dreamy wet weather in Newcastle

My trip to Newcastle was only two weekends ago, but I'm already going back! I'm headed to Groovin the Moo with my friend Courtney. For those kiddies out of Aus or non Triple J stalkers, Groovin is an annual music festival held around Australia with some pretty sick acts. This year's lineup is pretty sick, I'm pretty keen to see The Getaway Plan, Kimbra and I want to make sure I catch Public Enemy, especially in light of the sad events this weekend passed [MCA from the Beastie Boys lost his battle with cancer. The Beastie Boys are one of the most influential artists of all time]. You can check out the rest of the lineup here.

I hope the weather is good for the festival. Not too hot or sunny, but not raining either. It was pretty extreme weather when I was at Newcastle last. Hot and sunny one day, rainy and intense wind the next. I love wild weather though so I thought it was great :)

I'm home !

Aargh I'm so happy to be home. I only get to go home about once a month, which is probably a lot to some people, but to a person missing two cats, a guinea pig, chickens, a teddy and a best friend mum that is an excruciatingly long time.

Cool things that have happened / I've been doing:

- MUM KNITTED ME A BOW TIE. ZOMG. IT IS THE BEST THING EVER. EVER.

- Our van is pretty much finished! You might remember when I inherited my Grandfather's bright green van. Well, Mum has finished renovations in it and it is now fitted with a sick bed frame that hold the mattress and hides a heap of plastic tubs to pack all your camping shiz in...! It's decked out in rad curtains, a crocheted quilt and a matching crocheted dog. Heck yes.

- CATS! [or more specifically Agatha in this picture sporting a new necklace of mine]

- Knitting knitting knitting. I finally got a coffee plunger that is big enough to fill my high caffeine demands so naturally I need a cool cosy for it...!

At le Airport

So i'm sitting at the airport. Yeeee. About to catch a plane to Newcastle...! I'm all coffeed up and have the latest Frankie to keep me company till the plane boards.

I'm staying with my good friend Courtney over at Delicious Ramble and am going to meet a heap of her new friends :)

I'm also pretty keen to check out Blackbird Corner and see Jodie Kitty Robot stuff as well as all the other rad things in there...!

P.s - i got a job! It's sucked not working and having zero money each fortnight after all the bills are paid (this fortnight it was literally zero. I was in minus figures. On a related note thanks mum for some money) plus i like working, so i'm super happy.

So anyway here's a snapshot of my shoes while i wait, my shitty nails and a boob height selfie to show off my rad new shirt and cardigan w/elbow patches. Fyeah.

Squeeeeeee...! I'm so excited people are [slowly] starting to know about me! It's a bit hard to know where to start selling prints and getting my name around as a Photographer on the internet, so this was a very nice surprise!

I've put some new prints up on my Etsy store too! And made it a bit easier to navigate around. Here are a few new shots on my Stranger and Fiction store -

What I really need to do is get off my butt and get some more postcards printed like I've been planning to do for over a year now. Since moving to Brisbane for Uni I've had to stop my paid job as a Photographer, but I'm trying out for a few basic places that are up the road from my flat to try and get some moolah coming in.
